Moving Day!

Today was moving day! I'm exhausted! Although, did have lots of help. I hired some movers for the morning, but then had 4 guys from the band help too. That way, it would be quicker, and cheaper! 2 hours later, I was in the condo, and we were having pizza! Woohoo! Now comes the 'fun' part..... finding out where I put everything and trying to come up with a plan for where it all goes! Good luck me! hehe...
But, I love it! and, once I find my camera cable, I'll post some more pictures with my stuff in them instead of empty rooms :) This marks the last time I move for a while, and THAT makes me extra happy!

Painting's done!

It's done... I painted the kitchen! Turns out in modern english, "Precious Jasper" is actually code for BRIGHT GREEN! hehe... it's a bit brighter than I had invisioned, but it's the colour that I originally had in mind, which I suppose is a bit ironic! (and it reminds me of Steve and Veronica's wedding colours! hehe... please may borrow your colour scheme?)
Anyhow... here's a few pictures of my extravaganza. Thanks to my friend Megan, I didn't have to talk to myself all day! hehe.... she helped and was fantastic. We also changed the electrical outlets to be white instead of cream coloured. So handy we are!
Now that it's done, I'm glad it's over :) hehe.. but it was fun at the time!

Keys!

What a day! I went to the lawyer's office today to sign all the papers for the condo. Then I went to the condo for the last walk through, and to make sure nobody punched any holes in the walls (which would've been hard because it's empty!) And, I was handed my keys.... basically my schedule clashes with my realtor's tomorrow, (Sharon Jeans ReMax Nova = the best real estate agent in the world!) so she gave me the keys today so nobody's left waiting! HOORAY! I have keys! I also went to the paint store, got my paint, and I'm all set!
It's kind of weird, because it doesn't feel real. I signed my name on the dotted line a bunch of times... but still doesn't feel real. I'm sure it will... eventually :) Anyhow... pictures to come when I get some stuff in there, and when the kitchen is painted in a "Precious Jasper" colour... sounds fancy doesn't it? Let's hope it looks fancy :)

Today's Parade...

We had a parade this morning. Her Excellency, the Governor General was speaking in the legislature, so out we went to welcome her. Yes, seems like a nice experience right.... until you factor in the temperature! With wind chill felt like -20 something!
We formed up with a 50 (approx?) man honour guard, and marched them into position playing "Heart of Oak". When we stopped, we stood at ease, and then discovered that cause we were blowing warm air through cold metal instruments - as soon as we stopped playing, all the brass instruments froze up! So, we couldn't play the national anthem, the vice regal salute for the Governor General, or anything else for that matter! We just stood there as she arrived, and then she decided to inspect the guard and the band! I'm sorry, but if it's that cold, you'd think they'd speed things along a bit! ARG!!!
Anyhow... I've done really hot parades in Ottawa (+45 degrees) and now I've done the cold parades too, and I must say... I like warm better!
So... if you ever decide you want to be the Governor General... think of all the people that you're making stand around and consider the temperature!!!!! (tell your friends, educate your kids... who knows what they'll grow up to do!)

T minus 1 week

Well, it's 1 week yesterday technically that I'll have a few extra keys on my keychain! My condo is just sitting there waiting! The really nice thing is I've overlapped my move OUT date in my current apartment so I have 2 weeks to completely move and clean and sort and PAINT! Thank you for your kitchen colour suggestions- I think I've decided on a nice sage-y green... we'll see what it looks like on the walls, and I'll post pictures!
You know that feeling of "I just want to get there" just before you move, or take a trip or... whatever? That's where I'm at right now. Not saying I'm anywhere close to completely packed! But that'll come... .right? hehe...

Brrrrr

A little chilly today. The weatherman said it was -17 but feels like -26! (I know, Jolanda - I'm a wimp and it's not Ft. St. John...)Next week the Governor General is coming to Halifax - so we have a ceremony. This one WILL be outside - rain,shine,snow,ice pellets,-26... whatever! So... fingers crossed - if ever I was hoping for El Nino - it would be now!
Anyhow... it's been fun hearing from people I don't regularily hear from...so keep it coming!

New Condo!!!

Well, it's about time that I become a grown up!!! It's been in the process for a little while now - but I think I can safely say it's Good to Go! I'm very excited. I take possession officially on February 16th! Woohoo! Top floor, corner unit, outdoor pool! New laminate floor, nicely painted throughout (sounds like a sales pitch, but you can't have it!!!) Anyhow, here are a few pictures so you can see for yourself.
Actually.... how bout a little game? I'm thinking of painting the kitchen, right now it's a pale yellow.... any suggestions? Thanks!!!

I thought I'd post a photo of my first day at work in my new job. The found me a uniform (known as "High Collared Whites") and we went and took some photos. Unfortunately, I didn't get my hands on the coolest one - standing on the top of a submarine! But, let's play "where's waldo" or in this case "where's Christine" can you find me?
